Timeline of 2019
We launched “These Kids Can Write” Vol – 4, amidst great excitement and
enthusiasm of the children and their parents.
In order to help our children’s work to reach a wider audience, we
encouraged our children to participate in the Scholastic Competition.
We were happy to collaborate with ‘Bookosmia’ from Bengaluru. They held
their first Creative Writing Competition in the east exclusively for the children of Word Munchers.
In order to encourage entrepreneurial skills among the children, we
organised the ‘Charity Bazar’. In this event, the children bought ‘table space’ from where they ran food,
games and handicraft stalls. The proceeds earned from the table rent was donated to the “Adivasi Rugby
Foundation” for the “Girls Rugby Team” and the money collected was more than Rs 30,000.
A Visit to the Cancer Hospital
In order to create empathetic young citizens, we organised a collage making
camp at Premashraya for the resident cancer patients of the Tata Medical Centre along with the students of
Word Munchers. This event was sponsored by Indian Oil Corporation Ltd.
Word Munchers launched its first franchise in Guwahati in November 2019 in
association with Smartians by Divya Siotia.
Intra-Centre Creative Writing Competition
Our Intra-Centre Creative Writing Competition was held in December 2019. As
always, the topics were declared in advance, so that all the children could prepare for the competition. The
judges had a difficult time selecting the winning entries due to the excellent quality of writing.
To enjoy the winter sun and celebrate Christmas, Word Munchers organised a
Christmas party – a fun-filled morning comprising games, a magic show and refreshments.
